| Which power supply? Hi!
I'm really confused about which PSU to use for my system. I would really need your help. I want to purchase a Geforce 8600 GTS 512Mb GPU for my system but I dont know which PSU should I use. Can anyone recommend me some PSU available in the market that is preferably below or slightly above $100? This is my system is an HP Pavilion a1710n: AMD AthlonTM 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor 4200+
• 2.2GHz, 512KB+512KB L2 Cache, 2000MHz
ASUS A8M2N-LA Motherboard
GeForce 6150 LE/nForce 430 chipset
2 x 1Gb Kingston PC2 5300 (667 MHz) DDR2
2 x 512Mb PC2 4200 (533 MHz) DDR2
320 GB SATA 7200 rpm
Bestec ATX-300-12Z Rev DDR 300-Watt PSU
I was thinking of this PSU: TruePower Trio 550 - 550 Watt PSU
Here are the specs: TruePower Trio 550 Specs
Would this PSU work for me? Please let me know.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks! |

| Re: Which power supply? 8600GT 512MB? Why choose that card? Anyways, here's a great PSU for it's price. Newegg.com - XCLIO GREATPOWER X14S4P3 550W ATX12V 550W Power Supply 100-240V / 200-240V UL, CUL, TUV, CB, VDE, FIMKO, DEMKO, NEMKO, SEMKO - Retail
Or for a cheaper version Newegg.com - XCLIO STABLEPOWER 500W ATX 500W Power Supply 100 - 240 V UL, CUL, TUV, CB, VDE, FIMKO, DEMKO, NEMKO, SEMKO - Retail
When you're looking for PSU's you always want to check the +12V rails to see how much Amps it runs on. |

| Re: Which power supply? I'm getting the Geforce 8600 GTS because my budget is kinda tight. I don't wanna go with 8500 because I think it's not powerful enough. =)
So basically, the PSU that I've posted would also work? I'm asking because my friend is selling a brand new unit to me for $60. It also has 18A on each 12V rail. |

| Re: Which power supply? Oh, one more question phucng_10, do you think TruePower Trio 550 - 550 Watt PSU would be able to run 8800GT 512Mb without problems? |

| Re: Which power supply? I see. Well, according to both specs list, they have the same Amps on each +12V rail.
I'm thinking of getting the 8800 GT instead. =)
I already got the Antec PSU from my friend that's why I wanna make sure this PSU will be able to make the 8800 GT work. =) |
