|  Please explain what a CPU Clock Speed is I have a BIOSTAR P4M900M4 478 VIA P4M900 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard (specifications below) and in the BIOS, the maximum setting I can set the CPU Clock Speed is 265MhZ. What is this and how is this related to the speed of the actual CPU? I just want to make sure I am getting the most out of my new CPU and motherboard.  | Re: Please explain what a CPU Clock Speed is CPU speed is the CPU clocking. You CPU is probaly a 3.0GHz one. 3.0GHz is 3000MHz. The CPU is derived from its FSB speed and its multiplier. This CPU has a default clock speed of 200MHz, quad-pumped to 800MHz. The multiplier for this CPU is 15. 800 X 15 = 3000MHz. Download a program called CPU-Z and post a screenshot of what it shows.
