Default Old Motherboard and New Ram

Hey,

Just a question for a friend.

He is looking to get some more ram. Currently he has 256MB PC2100 and his motherboard supports PC2100 Max.. But if he was to get PC3200 will it work on the motherboard? i know if it works it will only be at PC2100 speed but will it work at all?

Because he is planning to upgrade soon and wasting money on PC2100 seems pointless.

Thanks, Sprooty.
