Default Noob question about upgrading my processor?

Thinking anout upgrading my processor from a 2.4 GHz to a 3.2 Ghz. My Mobo can support up to 3.2 GHz but my question is: Will i have to reinstall my operating system and everything else if i upgrade my processor? Thanks in advance

Also if i'm upgrading my processor is there anything else i must upgrade? My specs are below, i was thinking a new power source?? Maybe between 430 and 450 watts.

as long as the processor is the same socket type (skt 478), you will not have to re-load ANYTHING. Just swap and go, your MOBO should detect the new speed settings

good luck

No. Only motherboard (or hard drive) swaps would require a reformat and reinstall.

No you should be fine. If you do ever switch anyone of the Mobos or hardrives out you will have to reinstall your operating system
