I need a laptop for school that i alo want to use for browsing the internet but i will be doing no serious gaming or whatever!
I wanna get quite a good one as i want it to last for at least 3-4 years!
what do people suggest?
I would lik to spend £550 or so

Just buy pretty much anything if all you want to do is browse the net.

As a general rule try to stay away from celeron processors, and ideally get 1GB RAM or above.

Other than that it shouldn't really matter, check out Dell and a few places like that.

Dells are definetly not top of the line but they are cheap for what you get.

I ordered a Inspiron 6400 with

Core 2 Duo 1.66
2 gigs ram
X1400 viseo card
60 gig HD
9 cell battery
Truelife screen

It cost me 1119$ canadian without any rebates ect and i added the complete care warrenty for 3 years making it 1318$ before tax and 1500 ish with our 15% tax. Should last me for years to come. They only real limitation is the video card. Hopefully they offer a better on in the 6400 before they discontinue so i can upgrade later. Appartently u can even run oblivion on this with lwish settings so im sure it will be fine for most games the next couple years on lowish settings.I dont game all that much anyway.
