Default New game PC ordering mid-late sept.

A while back I posted about getting a new PC with a $1,000 budget... Well Things didn't go as planed and I will not be making enough money this summer for a $1,000 build. I have cut it down to around $500 with OS and I am planning on getting Vista Home Premium which is $109.99 so basicly $400 for parts. This may not sound like much to work with but I have already bought a PSU, HDD, and a Case so that should help.

I got these on when Newegg was having sales on them:

Case - Newegg.com - COOLER MASTER Centurion 590 RC-590-KKN1-GP Black SECC / ABS ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Computer Cases

PSU - Newegg.com - BFG Tech BFGR650PSU 650W ATX 12v 2.0 / EPS 12V Power Supply 115/ 230 V UL, CE, FCC CLASS B - Power Supplies

HDD - Newegg.com - SAMSUNG Spinpoint F1 HD753LJ 750GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - Internal Hard Drives

I have put together two different builds an AMD build and an Intel build, the only differnce between the builds are the motherboards, here is what I have picked out for parts not CPU/Motherboard:

Video card: Newegg.com - SAPPHIRE 100242L Radeon HD 4850 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards - 179.99

RAM: Newegg.com - WINTEC AMPO 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory - 74.99

DVD burner: Newegg.com - LITE-ON Black 20X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 8X DVD+R DL 20X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 12X DVD-RAM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM 2MB Cache SATA 20X DVD±R DVD Burner - CD / DVD Burners - 23.99

OS: Newegg.com - Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 64-bit English for System Builders 1pk DSP OEI DVD - Operating Systems - 109.99

Intel motherboard/CPU

Motherboard: Newegg.com - GIGABYTE GA-P31-S3G LGA 775 Intel P31 ATX Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards - $64.99

CPU: Newegg.com - Intel Pentium E2180 Allendale 2.0GHz 1MB L2 Cache LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor - Processors - Desktops - $69.99

AMD motherboard/CPU

Motherboard: Newegg.com - BIOSTAR A770 A2+ AM2+/AM2 AMD 770 ATX AMD Motherboard - AMD Motherboards - $69.99

CPU: Newegg.com - AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ Windsor 2.4GHz 2 x 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM2 65W Dual-Core Processor - Processors - Desktops - $58.00
===========================================

I am willing to OC, but how well will I be able to OC with a cheap motherboard? And if I do OC I will most likely need an aftermarket heatsink, which will add to the cost of the build... All help is welcome

thanks

You may want to consider that the new Intel chipset is coming out around September. And will probably have an effect on prices, and your choices may change.

Yea around there, I think they usually drop like a month and a half later.

the allendale can hit like 3.0 on stock cooling with little voltage change. but i don't think the prices on the allendale's will be affected, and thats really the only thing in your price range.

You're spending a lot on the HD4850 - you could get a reasonably good graphics card for $100 and that could save you money in other places. But I agree with the others and wait for the price drops to happen.
