Default New drives

well i traded my friend 2 40gb hds and an EIDE pci adapter that supports 4 IDE drives, for his psp which is in flawless condition

Now i have space in my comp for sata drives i want 2

Seagate Barracuda 7200.9
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822148148

perpendicular recording is a plus, less platters mean less heat and noise and my other drives were loud

i only want to spend 50 a drive then i have shipping and i need sata cables

is this a good drive is there any other drive that is better for my budget?

i wouldn't say it's the best but it certainly is one of the good ones, top ones, and i am getting one too my seagate 80gig but IDE version is coming tomorow. you should get it and do it now. for the sata cable try to get it used like in a local used computer store or from a friend, just to let you know OEM HD's doens't come with anything, not even jumpers.

LoL yellow, SATA drives do not HAVE jumpers, there is no master or slave mentality between sata drives, only the old parallel IDEs. Anyways, OEM HDDs, at least from seagate do come with the manufacturer's warranty.

JoshSB is right, SATA doesn't need jumpers and anyways at least all OEM EIDE HD's I've bought came with jumpers.
