wich one would you choose
$684 - HP Pavilion Media Center a1243w-b Desktop w/ 17" LCD, 2.0 GHz AMD Athlon
or
$498 - eMachines W3107 Desktop PC w/ 17CRT, 1.8GHz AMD Sempron 3100+ processor
please help
what is the deferent what is bettere athlon or sempron?

athlon is better. not to mention an LCD over a CRT

what is your friend using this computer for? if nothing more than websurfing, word processing etc. then i say save some money and go cheap. a 17" LCD would be nice though

well for word processing and stuff the single core amd can't take to much of it however for gaming uses i would use the 2nd one u have listed i have read some reviews on it and they havne't been bad but most of htem are overclocking i have heard that the sempron are good for gaming but for useing it for websurfkign and stuff i am not sure about either i know i had a 2000+ althon xp and i didn't like it at all but i do alot of websurfing and word processing and stuff and it didn't do what i wanted it to.
