Hi everyone! How does this sound for a cheap build for a friend? Tried to get it as cheap as possible but not too crap!

change the cpu at least to an x2 3600 brisbane
AMD Athlon 64 X2 3600+ CPU - Cheap at Ebuyer!
i have no idea how much more it is than that sempron in redcoat money (LOL), but i promise its worth it.
otherwise that is a decent cheap-o build.

But do I really need dual core for general internet, word processing and email?

not at all, but it will perform better in general. it will also produce less heat than the sempron. it also will help if you have multiple applications open at the same time.

no way, for what you say its for just overclcok that CPU, AMD's run very cool so you wont need after market cooling either for a decent overclock. but for gaming etc i agree with the brisbane.

Sorry forgot to mention...no gaming on this rig...so no overclocking...

Is anti-static a big problem? Have you ever broken anything because of static? It says on this site that I should by an anti-static device, but is there anyway of preventing static without a device. Or is it better to get a device?

antistatic wrist bands are what the site means but all i ever do is earth myself by touching something metal before i touch any components, also keep static materials away and dont wear a jumper/sweater and you should be fine without a wrist band. anyways if by some bad luck you do fry something as a result of static then, just tell the manufactuer is was a DOA Dead on Arival lol
