Default Need new Video card - Gamer

Hi, im not the good with computers at all, so i was hoping i could come here for suggestions

I need a new video card. My old one is a intel one intergrated with my motherboard. I was hoping i could buy a new video card and just slip it in. Will this work? Can i slip a new video card in and have it work? Or do i have to buy a new motherboard, and video card.

Some video cards ive been looking into is the 8800gts, but i heard a new one is coming out tuesday.

thanks!:snob:

This is definitly the place to get help.....but youll first need to give a little more information about your computer. Try to get full specs.
If you dont know how....go to:
Start...All Programs.....Accessories.....System Tools.....System Information. Then someone will be able to help you shortly!

Some of the things you might want to type in are CPU, Ram Memory, Operating System, Etc.

Pokernod is right... we need a little info about your computer. If it is a pre-built, such as a Dell, HP, Gateway, whatever, post the make and model so we can find the specs. If it is a custom built, Download and run |MG| EVEREST Free Edition 2.20 and paste up a screenshot of the motherboard tab.

But it doesn't tell us anything other than you are running Vista, have a C2D E6300, and are running a mobo with a 82945G chipset.

We need to know if you have a PCI-E slot and what wattage PSU you are running, as these will tell us if you can mount a GFX card (or a new one, anyway), and whether or not you would need a new PSU.
