Default need help with sound cards

i recently invested in a 5.1 set of speakers and am looking for a cheapish sound card, i was looking at the entry level sound blaster 5.1
which has the following specs

Audio Quality/Bit Depth 16-bit/48kHz
DACs 16-bit/ 48kHz, 5.1 Channel
Recording Quality 16-bit/48kHz
Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) 85dB

the problem being i have a K8 motherboard with a VIA vinyl audio or something.. problem being i dont know the specs of it. i am looking for advice on if i should get the entry level sound blaster or just stick with my inbuilt? thanks heaps

Depends on how much you're willing to spend really. You can pick up an audigy card on newegg for about 30 bucks. And they have an XFI card on there for about 90. Either one will probably be better than the onboard sound.
