OK I just bought a new video card,
`Powercolor ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2 1Gb GDDR4 PCIx16

I have tried everything to get the computer to Recognize this card.

I will display all my compouter stats below.
Ok so here are the steps i followed to install my new video card.

1.)Disable On-board video in device manager.
2.)Disable On-board video in BIOS(I dont have this option to do this in my bios.
3.)Shutdown computer and install new Video card
4.) Install new video card drivers.

ok so i followed these steps and first off, I don't have an option anywhere to disable my on-board video in my BIOS.
second i cant even find a manual to see if there is a physical jumper on the mobo.

SO THIS IS MY MAIN PROBLEM THIS IS WHAT I NEED ANSWERED.

My computer will not even recognize it as uninstalled hardware. nothing shows up. no "found new hardware", no nothing.

YES PEOPLE IT DOES WORK THE FAN MOVES AND ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE CARD COME ON.

lol also i have asked this same question already on many other forums with no luck and have had my hardware for both my video card and my mobo replaced to see if it was a hardware issue not working, but they both work fine and still i can not detect my new video card

I guess i don't understand in it's entirely, I've never had to disable on board video or anything, usually when you install the video card, it automatically vetoes the onboard.

yes i know you don't NORMALLY need to disable the on-board video, but sometimes you do.

Another thing is that it will not automatically just disable the onboard video because it does not even detect that there is another video card in the slot.

And plz do not tell me to re-seat the card. I know what i am doing. I just have never had this happen to me.

Still I am more concerned with the computer it self and the mobo not "finding" the video card, or the computer is not telling me that it has "Found New Hardware".

Do I have an outdated bios version?

or maybe I need to update my mobo files, so the computer can read the slot?

If that is the case I need to know where I can get them from.

I have tried the video card in a older machine and a newer machine and they both work just not my computer.

This is really driving me mad. plz can an expert help me

your problem sounds weird...

but did you remove forceware nvidia drivers?

and did you remember to plug in the pci-e connection? (the 6 pin power connection on the back of the GPU)

Uhm im not sure what your talking bout with the forceware from nvidia.
And yes i have psu connectors hooked up to my video card.it has two 6 pin connectors. 1 for regular mode and 2 for crossfire mode. I tried having both plugged in and i tried with just one plugged in.

As far as the removal of forceware i think your talking about the drivers?

this is what i tried. i go into device manager and click display adapters and tried to unistall the onboard video and nothing.

it just gets reinstalled after reboot.

did you look into your add/remove program list and remove anything and everything that is nvidia related?

Hello,

Use Driver Cleaner Pro:

Driver Cleaner Professional download from Guru3D.com

Remove your old video drivers. Just disabling it doesnt always work. What it will do is still load the old video drivers for the new card and cause conflicts. So use that and uninstall any and all video drivers.

Then restart. You should see 16 colors and a 480x600 screen. Install the latest set of drivers for your new card. then restart again and it should work jsut fine.

ok so driver cleaner did not work

It actually mad e my deal worse.

Well after sorting throught this crap i was gonn ago back in my bios and switch my video output back to onboard. well i didnt remover the video card after that for some reason and then my mobo detected it.

but now...... i have a problem.

It says that it has disabled my nerw video card becasue my driver is not compatible. code 34

this is the error message

Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

Click 'Check for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available.

So, just to be clear, have u:

1.Unistalled the nvidia drivers through the add/remove programs?
2.Used driver cleaner in 'safe mode' to remove all nvidia driver traces?
3.Reinstalled the correct, latest ATI drivers?
