Talking My first build successfull. Now a HD question

Well looks like I didn't manage to screw anything up and got everything connected right on the build in my sig. I have gotten as far as looking in the bios for now. Tomorrow during kids naptime I plan to format the HD and load windows. Here's my question.

I am using this mainly for gaming and burning music. Looking for advice for the best way to partition the HD. I was thinking 20GB, 30GB, 30GB or 20GB, 60GB. OS would go on the 20GB partition.

Thanks for any help and the help I got here asking questions about my build.

I would go with the 20, 60gb setup myself.
Or maybe 10gb for OpSys, and the rest for the fun part.

Is your Programs folder going to be on the same partition as the OS? Then 10GB should be good. Otherwise, for a Windows only partition, you could get away with 5GB.

a friend of mine is configured 20 - 30 - 30 and its very good. He has 20 for os and programs, 30 for music and media, and the last 30 for files.

I've read of partitioning a drive with one for Windows, one for the swap file, and the remainer divided up for data and games and whatnot.

I think it was 5-6 gig for Windows, about 2-2.5 for the swap file, and then whatever you want for the rest.
