Will a Asus A7N8X take a AMD Athlon 64 3200+?

No. You should look check which socket that 64 3200+ is using, and get a board with the same socket.

wow that board is like top notch at its time but that was 5 years ago. Socket A and SDRAM, even the first Athlon 64 wouldn't work

Asus A7N8X = Socket A
Athlon 64 3200+ = socket 754, 939 or AM2 - but it can only be one of these. You can't, for example, put a socket 754 Athlon 64 3200+ in a socket 939 board
