Default Motherboard Q's

I current have the Intel 945GTP motherboard for my Pentium D. For the longest time I've been thinking of changing it because of a lot of things I dislike about the board. The Intel Extreme Edition 955XBK and 975XBX really got my attention. The main differance is a better layout, more SATA slots and better onboard things. My main question is... is there ever a differance in performance between motherboards? These two Extreme Editions are quite a bit more expensive than my old board. Would it be worth upgrading to?

1) Do you want to play games?
If so, then do you have a pci-e mobo?

It you have Pci-e and it runs ur hdd's and ur dual core 3.0 Ghz, NO DONT UPGRADE! Your computer is fine for now. I'd recommend upgrading when you can't play at least 3 or 4 games which u want.
