I have a Dell E520 and I do a lot of gaming and it doesn't quite get the job done so I'm looking to totally redo my computer. I basically want to build a new computer and harvest some basic parts from the dell, eg. DVD Drives, Hard Drive, so I just wanted to know if everything would be compatible, I will list the parts below and if you could tell me if it would work as a new pc that would be great.

Everything looks really good, but try to get a different motherboard, and a better PSU. Also you're forgetting about the Ram. Let me recommend these to you:

why would he want a micro ATX mobo?
they tend to be lower performing and poor overclocking ability
i posted him a great psu deal
he probably has adaquete RAM in his dell which is why he didn't post it
or he doesn't know that 2gb DDR2 800 is a huge improvement over 1gb DDR2 667 and that that 2gb is the max for a decent comp

First of all, I forgot he was getting a new case so I suggested a mATX since i thought he was using the dell case. So calm your little a$$ down.
Second, either PSU would be ok, but Rosewill isn't necessarily a top notch brand. They are new and they are rising up, but XClio already has a good reputation.
Third, might as well get 2gb and have it matching, and usually with those pre-builts if its 1gb they have like 4x256mb sticks. So you can't even upgrade it.

Also, to Fission. I just realized it. Your current pc has an intel core 2 duo e6300. So if you keep that its better than the e4500 allendale. The e4500 has a higher clock speed, but the e6300 has more L2 cache, and will outperform it.

you can pick up a set of xms2 ram for really cheap on the egg and tigerdirect. i think its around 35-40 after rebates on tigerdirect which is really good for 2 gb

Yes if youve already got an e6300 then I would keep it- I had one in my old PC and it was a brilliant performer.

I didn't know that I could keep the processor, how would I get it off of the motherboard, I thought it had some sort of special adhesive on it... E6300 has 2MB cache, just like E4500

No it will not outperform E4500

Actually, even E6320 which have 4MB cache doesn't beat E4500

The 2MB extra L2 cache will just make around 4-5% increase on average and this is not enough to beat E4500 which have 15% higher clock than E6320 at stock

However, I agree that going from E6300 to E4500 is just a minor upgrade. So, if he have E6300 then there is no reason to upgrade to E4500
