Default Intel Dual Core Question

Pentium D Dual Core and Core 2 Duo whats the major difference. I'm kinda new to computer building and I was just trying to figure this out

Well, Core 2 duo is exactly what it sounds like - 2 physical cores running at once to make multitasking easier.

the major difference would proberly be the performance? the best pentium d still loses to the worst core 2 duo i think.

Intel is saying that the Core 2 Duo's are 40% faster and 40% more energy efficient.

I can see what this might be turning into, bottom line is stay on topic. AMD and Intel both advantages over the other in different fields, everyone knows that.

Core 2 Duos are faster than Dual Core (Pentium D), that's a given. Essentially the Core 2 Duo's perform more operations at the same clock speed than the Dual Core.
