Default installing another hdd?

Hi, I am not that great with computers.

Anyways, I was just wondering if I wanted to install another hard drive on my PC, would I have to configure or partition anything? Or simply install it and the necessary stuff and it would be cool?

Thanks for any help.

Specs? Prebuilt computer?

Mostly likely just buy HDD, plug it in, boot into Windows, format it and use.

Yes, it will work. The 2.0 has a higher throughput, but it will work in a 1.0 slot. There are very few motherboards out that utilize the 2.0 version as of yet.
