Default IDE or SATA drive in a case? A rushed decision

So i'm about to go to college and I got a SATA internal drive (http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16822148140) and an IDE external case (http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16817145133)
without realizing it, and before knowing they didn't exactly go together. Now I need an extra drive before this Friday.

I want to get a bunch of files (programs, music, movies, games) off of my PC and onto a drive I can use for storage for my measley 100 GB laptop. I would probably use the external drive for running said files a good amount, so is USB 2.0 enough or do I need eSATA?

My options are:

get an IDE 320 GB drive from Circuit City (http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Weste...oductDetail.do) for about what I paid for the SATA drive.

Get a SATA case overnighted/2-day'd from newegg for $10 more on the case and $15 to $25 on the shipping, including the return.

In addition to the SATA case, get an eSATA laptop card adaptor for another $50 or so.

So what'll it be? Basically I can spend an extra $10 to an extra $75 depending on the kind of speed I need/should have. help me decide.

Thanks.

personally i would look for an external case that has both eSATA and USB 2.0. that way you can conveniently use it with both eSATA and your laptop without getting an adapter card. you could even settle for USB 2.0 only.
