i have a question about dual channel

if I have ram that is the same kind both are 512mb pc3200 the only diff is the name brand will they still work in dual channel?

If they have the same timings they will. But usually not recommended to mix brands I hear.

Put it in, boot to bios and it should tell you if dual channel is working.

ok thanks i'll give it a try and let ya know what happens, i'm not real worried its not like its my computer anyways if the BOOM happens lol

well got it in and everything is working good dual channel and it is reading both sticks but the only problem that i see is that the ram that i have is 400MHz and in the bios it is showing it as 333MHz the old stuff was 333MHz is there anyway that i can put it up to 400MHz or no

i dont think so. it will run at the lower speed.

It will run at which ever ram piece has the lowest speed.
