Hot Plastic

What could the smell of hot plastic comming from a new build mean? It works fine, but right after I turn it on, I start to smell something.

Something is getting burnt..? Wires insulation? Case? Check around and see. Or it could just be the fresh smell of a new build.

I didn't really smell anything when I turned on my new build. Could it be the fans?

You'll definately be able to smell if something is shorting out. A brand new machine usually has a slight odor to it from all of the electronics seating. If you have ever had something fry, its a smell you dont forget.

I would guess power supply. That's where it would have enough power running through it to make plastic burn (and therefore smell bad)
