| Monster Techie | im deciding to buy a new laptop in the next month or so and i want a fairly big one. like a 17in screen i want to spend at most 2200 ive been looking at some and havent found anything thats really a great deal the best 1 ive found so far is hp zd8000 which customized is 1988.00 it would be with media center xp 3.2ghz 17.0"(1680x1050) 512mb ddr2 sdram 100gb 5400rpm free upgrade 8xdvd +/- rw/r 256mb ati mobility radeon x600 wireless b/g and bluetooth(a must) if anyone can help me find a laptop with equal or better specs than this that would be helpful but please keep in mind i want it to have a 17in screen Any suggestions would be helpful otherwise i will order this laptop thanks |

| What you listed sounds pretty sweet, and the price for that equipment is about right. One thing I would suggest, is going with XP Pro instead of Media Center 2005. Even though MCE is built on XP Pro, they still strip most of the OS features out of it. There are ways around it with a little registry hacking, but that can be a hassle. Check out some 3rd party apps for a media center to throw on top of your OS. Meedio is a good program. That is just my opinion, you can get a lot more funcionality from your laptop that way. | Dell also makes a lot tof good laptops. if you want a bug discount check out http://www.xpbargains.com/dell_coupons/ the have some like $600 off any laptop of $1500 or more and other stuff. |

| Stay away from Dell, they suck big time. IBM is another good company to look at, but i don't think they make 17 inch notebooks.

| I just purchased my 2nd laptop, this time I went for an Acer Aspire 1520. 80gb 7200rpm hdd 1gb ram 10/100/1000 gigabit ethernet b/g wireless Irda Bluetooth Dual format dual layer dvd burner 15.4 widescreen 1 firewire 4 usb 2.0 Amd Athlon 64 3000+ WinXP Pro and much more all for only 1200.00 including case and taxes.
