dano4163 Newb Techie Join Date: Nov 2008 Posts: 12	Hard Drive Question Hi Everyone, Got a quick question about a hard drive. What is the difference between a SATA and a IDE? I'm doing a gaming build and I was wondering which would be the best type to get. I'm looking at a Seagate (will post link). I'm using an ASUS M3A78-T motherboard with a AMD Phenom 9950 2.6Gz Quad-core BE processor. Newegg.com - Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3250410AS 250GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - Internal Hard Drives Any help would be great, Thanks.

SATA is the newer interface. that is the kind you want to get.

+1, SATA has a higher transfer rate too. Also you'll probably find new SATA HDs cheaper than IDE HDs

ya sata 3g is way faster than ide.
