Default Hard Drive Question

Ok i bought a laptop from dell with 60 GB HD. When I got it, there were two hard drives. One was named backup that had max space of 12.5 GB and my main C drive with 37.2 GB. That only amounts to 49.7 GB!! When I ordered a 60 GB, why do I have only 49.7 GB? Is this normal or is it a screw up? Should I call dell and return my laptop?

They formatted it in two partitions - An actual byte is more than what is said - 8^64 doesn't come out equal as an example.

It should be like that.

Ah ok. Sucks that I lost nearly 10 GB because of that.
