Default hard-drive help!

I just installed a new 40 GB hard drive to my computer. I put it into my computer after setting the jumper to slave and connected all the cables needed to be connected to it. I then started up my computer and once windows started to load it noticed new hardware installed which was the hard drive I put in. I then go to computer management and put the hard drive online but I still don't see it in "My Computer". What do I have to do so I can see it in "My Computer"?

Hello,

Have you created a partition on the new drive and formatted it with a file system?

You can do this in Computer Management.

Windows XP or Vista?

I'm assuming XP and also know only XP, so here goes:
Control Panel--->Administrative Tools--->Computer Management--->Hit plus on Storage (may be already expanded)--->Disk Management---Right Click empty space and create a new one.
