8600gt is pci-e

but I believe there are some hd2xxx series cards that perform around the same of an 8600gt and are AGP

Those 2600 series cards would be the best AGP ones you can get. Here's links to a lower end one with gddr2 and the higher end one with gddr3.

Newegg.com - HIS Hightech H26PQT512ANP Radeon HD 2600PRO 512MB 128-bit GDDR2 AGP 4X/8X HDCP Ready Video Card - Retail
Newegg.com - HIS Hightech H26XQT512ANP Radeon HD 2600XT 512MB 128-bit GDDR3 AGP 4X/8X HDCP Ready Video Card - Retail

Or you could begin the upgade process and go with a newer motherboard, get some ddr2 ram (cheap!) and a pci-e graphics card. What socket is your processor?
