Default Good processor?

Is the Intel Celeron D 310 2.13GHz, a good processor for a PC I'm building that basically just an internet/word processing machine?

Also where does that processor stack up against a Pentium III??? better or slower?? Is the Celeron D about the same speed as a 2.0 P4???

thanks

The Celeron D is better than a P3. The P3 is old technology, and the Celeron would be about double the speed of a P3.

A P4 2.0 Ghz would run laps around the Celeron 2.13.

Why Intel?

AMD is much cheaper and runs faster!
You can get a Sempron 2800 for the same price and will run faster than the Celeron 2.13.

I have a sempron 2600 overclocked to 1.8ghz and it works REALLY great for word processing. Beats a spyware-infected Pentium D anyday. lol
