Default Fastest Multimedia PC

Hi everyone,

I'm a new to this board as you can see. I'm glad to join!

I'm looking for the fastest multimedia PC on the market. I'm NOT a gamer, however. By multimedia I'm talking about using the PC as a high-end video editing tool, capturing the highest quality level of sound and video without dropping a frame, DVR capabilities, etc.

I want what's fastest, most powerful PC on the market for my needs.

Thoughts?

Thanks!

sounds like you want a prebuilt computer, i would not reccomend it and most of the forum members will agree. either take the plunge and build your own or we can help you with a parts list and you can get one custom built. for video editing you will definitely be wanting a dual core, and if you are willing to pay anything for "the fastest" i would suggest basing the pc around an FX-60 processor.

Unless he has lots of money to burn, I would not recommend a FX-60. Just get a Opteron 165 and oc it. I got mine to 2.53Ghz on stock voltage using a memory divider (my ram was running at 250mhz or ddr500). I did not even try to push it further.

I belive the Nvidia's Quadro video card series can help render video.

I also recommend building your own pc as with prebuilt ones you cannot overclock, problably no video card to help rendering and a couple of other reasons. If you don't want to build it you could hire me to build it for you

Ehh, that system kinda stinks. But yeah, it sounds like he wants to dish out as much money as he wants for this computer.

Hey everyone, thanks for the response. I need to read all of them thoroughly but I have a budget of $4,000.

I'm really worried about building my own. I know practically zero about building my own. I might reconsider if I could get my "dream" configuration for A LOT less than ordering it pre-built (like $1000 or something).

Anyway..thanks for the suggestions..keep them coming.

You should start with 2 GB of ram. This should do:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820220040
For the Processor, the AMD 4400 X2 should do for 458 dollars
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103546
Or if you want to spend more, the FX 60
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103608
This for the Motherboard:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813130037
and for the sound card
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16829102188

That should start you out.

good point slick, if you're going to vbe doing high-end AV work you will definitely want an X-FI sound card. i think you should look at either the athlon x2 4800+/opteron 180 or athlon FX-60/opteron 185. the opterons would probably be good in your case as they perform identically to their athlon counterparts but can take more use and abuse. you should probably get a tuner/capture card if you are going to work with video so that you can digitise analogue sources of video
