| Cheaper one would have a cheaper laser within the drive. Down the track it would probably cause problems with unable to read DVD's and the like. Wouldn't be a massive difference between the two though. Salesman will always recomend the more expensive one (unless you find a decent one) as it is their job, which is why I do my own research into a product before I buy. |

| That's a pretty big price difference. What kind of external drive were they selling for $40? A quick web search didn't turn up one that cheap. Internal drives are inexpensive, but external ones just aren't as popular anymore. |
