Default E2160 or 5000+ BE

I am building a new budget build and I am debating between the two processors (I will be overclocking).

The Intel E2160
Newegg.com - Intel Pentium E2160 Allendale 1.8GHz 1MB L2 Cache LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor - Retail

or the AMD 5000+ BE
Newegg.com - AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ Brisbane 2.6GHz 2 x 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM2 65W Dual-Core Black Edition Processor - Retail

or is there a better option in my price range? Also, what mobo should these processors be paired with that are under $100.

If you are planning to get the Intel processor then get either one of those motherboards

Newegg.com - GIGABYTE GA-P35-S3G LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail

Newegg.com - GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail

You can get E2200 for cheaper price than 5000+ BE, if you want
Newegg.com - Intel Pentium E2200 Allendale 2.2GHz 1MB L2 Cache LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor - Retail

Get the Intel. Much better upgrade options, better mobo selection, better performance.

With both the 5000+ and the E2160 oc'd at say 3.0 ghz, will there be a better performance from Intel?

Yes, core 2 is much better than K8 clock for clock.

Yes there will be. I would try an e2200 w its 11x multi. But I've seen 100% oc's on e2160's before.

edit: Vannish beat me to it

E2200 has 11x multiplier, so yes I think it easier to overclock it than E2160

And for the mobo, I think this one is good for you
Newegg.com - GIGABYTE GA-G31M-S2L LGA 775 Intel G31 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail

Yes E2160 would perform better in most applications, if both are oc'd to 3.0GHz
