Bear with me hereÂ… (keeping the kids system and thinking about selling mine)

1.
Swap the chips out
Swap the Ram
Sell the rest (Mine)

2. (possible)
Swap CPU/MOBO/RAM/GPU all together
Swap the hard drives (80Â’s) for the 36GB
Sell the rest

If I go with 1 I retain some upgradeability later on (weaker GPU)
If I go with 2 The kid get a more powerful GPU, but dates system quicker..

Either way IÂ’m pretty sure IÂ’m going to sell mine, but I wanna give the kid something he can use for a few years more without lacking in the game areaÂ… Gimme some ideas here!

what are you trying to achieve? i.e. with the money and with the mix/match

personally i say stick the 7800GS in the rig you keep, keep the larger hdd, the mobo from your rig and choose the other parts you want. the 7800 and the 3200+ will give you a nice usablke pc, the 160GB of hdds would probably be more useful to you than a raptor. if you stick the raptor, 3700+ and the 6800 in the rig you sell you should get a half decent price

i agree with nitestick....i love my 7800GS.....and it WILL last me for a good long while....regardless of what people say....so i say your fine with keeping it.....but i would do what nitestick suggested.

I am tending to agree... I'm trying to bump up the kids system and sell off the rest... I don't need it, nor want the extra juice for the electric bill! LOL

I think I'll swap out the guts of it and rebuild the kids system. then put it back together with what's left and sell it... Thanks!
