Hi, I was hoping you guys could help me with a problem upgrading my PSU.

My question is, are there any Power supply units out there to upgrade my Dell OptiPlex GX270 small desktop computer from its 210 watt PSU to something say 400 watts that would enable me to run my new nVidia GeForce 6200 A-LE 256MB Low-profile AGP video card?

I've looked around on the internet and I have found none so far that would fit into this specific model of the GX270 series as is shown on the dell website (Documentation) where my model is listed as the Small Destop Computer. This is perhaps a better example of what my PSU looks like in real life.(eBay: Dell GX270 210W Power Supply N1238 HPU2106F3 (item 280108045615 end time Apr-30-07 13:57:42 PDT))

So does anyone know of a PSU out there that I can upgrade to or am I stuck with my 210 watt PSU in which I would be better off buying a new computer console if I wish to play games on it like World of Warcraft that has a minimum video card requirement of nVidia GeForce 2 class or higher?

Also, If I can't upgrade my PSU, is there perhaps a lower class video card I could go for that would be good enough to run World of Warcraft and that my 210 watt PSU would be able to handle?

i hate those comps i had one of those, well your only choice would be to get a bigger power supply and run that computer with the chassis open. However be sure to use a dell power supply or use a dell psu pin converter since dell likes to use proprietary parts.

If thats my only option when it comes to upgrading my PSU, is there perhaps the possibility that I could just buy a lower class graphics card that my current 210 watt PSU could support, say a GeForce 2, 3, or 4, 32 MB or 64 MB AGP low profile card, because the only game I want to play on this computer is World of Warcraft and that only has a minimum video card requirement of nVidia GeForce 2 class or higher?

i had a geforce 2 and geforce 4mx4400 inside of that computer but since i didn't buy the dell one i had to leave the case open anyways. you would have to buy one from dell or a low profile one

Yeah, I'm going to buy a geforce 4 MX440 Low Profile AGP card, hopefully that should work on this computer.

also make sure it is the one with 128bit memory interface and for goodness sake get the one with the fan the one with only the heatsink is garbage and freezes on most games

this looks good but i dont know if your monitor uses dvi or if thiis fits in your comp is it the tower or the school ones?

yeah i just checked i don't know if a gfx card will fit into that comp i tried to put in a low profile card in there but the long metal part on teh end where the connecter is was too long so i just gave up and put in the card and used it while it was open i wouldn't rrecommend it though as it gets pretty hot, or you could try but i highly don't advise you to do what i did eventually i cut off the excess metal so the case would close.

by the way dont et that card i posted its dms59 you need an adapter to make it to dvi

this one should be perfect for that optiplex, its too latte i'll check the power requirements tommorow
