my cpu fan is going out on a household puter. do i need to call dell to get a replacement?

Measure it to find what size it is: 3.2" (3 1/4") is an 80mm, 3.6" (just over 3 1/2") is a 90mm. Then go to Newegg and order one for a few bucks.

Just measure by a centimeter ruler , were different from the whole world.

oh ok. thanks for the help everyone. I just didn't know if a regular one would fit there board. It seems like anytime you want to replace or upgrade with a Dell there's always a hurtle of some sort. It's the wife's puter (had it b4 me or i wouldn't let her buy one) and still works for an everyday puter.

I lernt 2 reed. Ya, you -might- be able to find a fan that fits, but i know dell does have some proprietary cpu fans around. Not sure about the newer stuff.
