Default CPU, HDD, mobo

Specs of current setup in sig.

I'm upgrading with the following:

Maxtor DiamondMax 10 80GB 7200 RPM IDE Ultra ATA133 Hard Drive - 52.00

ASRock 939Dual-SATA2 Socket 939 ULi M1695 ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail - 66.99

AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Venice 1GHz HT Socket 939 Processor Model ADA3000BPBOX - 145.00

My question: Is there anything that I could go with that would take a cut in price, but not performance?

Thanks, Mike

No, not really... That's why I have the same kind of system you do.

You could switch to a sempron 754.

ASRock has a board thats upgradeable to 939.

yeah i think u shuold go with a sempron 2800, and possibly a asus k8n vm, the mobo is a lil higher priced, but the sempron sure is lower. according to a guy that answered a thread of mine, u can oc a sempron 2800 to 2.4ghz.

I would stick with what you are going to get, That way you can run your RAM in dual channel mode.

As for dropping to 754 You will get less performance.
