Default Is Core Duo the same as Dual Core??

Hi,
Ive read alot about the Core Duo processors....

Are the same as the Pentium D Procesor Dual Core??

And is the Dual core processor the same as the when they say Pentium D/is it better?

Core Duo and Pentium D are both dual cores, but each have different architechture....Core Duo being better.

LGA 775 I think you meant, is a cpu socket, which Pentium D is....so is Core Duo and C2D. Hyper-Threading is just an Intel technology that enables you do run more programs simultaneously.

Hyper threading is to cycles per clock, so it emulates dual core. You get a performance increase having hyper threading over a single core with no hyper threading. It is not the same as being a proper dual core processor though. If you did folding and had two applications of it, you will get about 25% increase of work roughly, but it will take longer to do a single work load. A proper dual core will be able to do 100% more than a single and take the same time to do one work load as a single core.

Well in single threaded apps the Pentium 4 processor will be faster than Pentium D for same price - scrath same price thing, they are all cheap. Conroe (Core 2 duo) is the fastest.

hehe...ok...so now im lost...

so pentium 4 processor is faster than pentium D??? Core duo is farfetched i guess..(price wise) so its basically b/w pentium 4 and pentium d....

???
