Default Building Surface

Id like to build my PC in my bedroom. Its carpeted and theres a large enough space in the middle to put it together here comfortably. But carpet is something to avoid I hear. So should I lay something across the ground before I take the bits out?

There arent many options though.. spread paper across the floor? Heh.

I'd just use the kitchen table...

Carpet will indeed build up static electricity.

I always work on my computers in the kitchen, since the rest of the place is carpeted. But if I'm forced to work on my computer where there is carpet, I just touch the metal chassis of the case for a minute or so to ground myself, before touching any of the other parts.

But what you can do is maybe, buy a rubber mat?

Carpet is ok. Just be sure you ground yourself.
