Hi,
Does anyone know what happens in the BIOS when you install Kingston 2gb (2x1gb) Ddr2 1066mhz Hyperx Memory Cl5(5-5-5-15).
The trouble is that is you keep everything standard then the PC sees the mem as PC2-6400 800Mhz which is a bit off when you pay extra to get the 1066Mhz.
Was told that all I needed to do was correct the settings in Bios so the mem settings Tra/Ras etc were 5/5/5/15 and Voltage to 2.2v then change Dimm to PC2-8500 and then all should be well. When I went into the Bios to change the timings they were 5/5/5/18 so change the last one to 15. Then changed the voltage to +0.4v (from 1.8v) so the voltage was correct at 2.2v. No the problem, Can't find the Dimm setting. I have increased the FSB for the CPU which changes it for the Mem too, I now have CPU at 2.8 with 312 FSB with a 9 Multiplyer but that ony gives me 900 on the RAM. This was the best stable setting i could have with my steam driven PC2-5400 667Mhz RAM before the Kingston and was hopping to get me CPU up to 3.2 - 3.5 (E6600 C2D) BUT don't understand were to sort the RAM out first.
Thanks,
Shaun.
