Default which is better HDD?

i am assembling PC for personal use,, and i am confuse of this two Hard disk drives,, which would you prefer me go for an SATA HDD or IDE HDD?? and why??

SATA is newer than IDE. IDE has been around for ages, and works well. you can also use it for CD drives.
SATA, however, gives faster transfer rates. currently hard drives don't get up to the top speed IDE allows for, although the SATA cables are much smaller, which is what a lot of people go for.

you might see a speed change but most people say the sound is a lot quieter on SATA
