Default Best bang for the buck?

Okay my freind is looking at an upgrade. Now he is stuck on a GeForce 4 MX440, which wont play CS:S at acceptable frames at 1024 x 768. All he wants to do is play it at that res, with acceptable frames (dosent care about graphical settings)

The question i ask is, out of these two, which offer best bang for the buck:

Buy 256MB Inno3D GeForce 6200*I-A6200-G4E3 from CCL - Online Retailer of the Year 2006

Buy 128MB Sapphire Radeon 9250 AGP*11046-62-20 from CCL - Online Retailer of the Year 2006

Also, will they be able to play CS:S at this res?

Finally, what would be the bare minimum power supply wattage/amperage for this, 1Gb DDR RAM @ 2.5V , and 2.0GHz celeron?

Thx for feedback.

Well on my laptop, I have an ATI Xpress 300MHZ with 256MB shared system memory, I can run Source @ 1280x800 with lower settings I believe.

So I'm guessing those should be able to run it at 1024x768.

But it is an online shooter, you're going to want to run the game at a good solid frame rate so it won't get choppy.

So if he can afford to spend a bit more for a good DX9 card and keep it under $100, I'd suggest-

Newegg.com - EVGA 512-A8-N501-LR GeForce 7300GT 512MB 128-bit GDDR2 AGP 4X/8X Video Card - Retail

They both suck (old, 64-bit), but the 6200 sucks a bit less.

You shouldn't have a problem with power, though.

I would recommend giving up on getting a new low-end card and focus on getting a used, slightly better 128-bit or 256-bit DX9 card. For $40 - $60 you should be able to find a used 6600 or equivalent.

yea bought a 6600GT for $40 the other day. Just look around forums like these for people selling their used crap.

9700, 9800, x700, x800, x850, x1300

5950, 6600, 6800, 7300GT

all decent cards you might be able to find under $80
