I want to build a basic pc, pretty cheap. I would like to buy the parts from newegg. Intel processor. I just want it faster than my old pc which shouldnt be too hard since its a p4 2.4ghz.

edit: i found out i am going to need the following:
cpu
mobo
ram

I have about everything else, the hdd, gpu, monitor, case, mouse keyboard, 250watt psu, cd drive, and sound card.

Well, if you're getting a new motherboard, you'll need a new PSU to match it and a new hard drive more than likely. Also have you considered AMD? They're socket 939 single cores are dirt cheap now. What kind of video card do you have right now? If it's an AGP, you'll probably need to upgrade that too, unless you find an older motherboard that has an AGP slot. Unfortunately, As soon as you want to upgrade one thing, there's 10 other things that you need to, but that's computers for you.
