Default Asus+AMD -DDR or DDR2

I want to upgrade my old intel p3+810 chipset+mercury board to a more general system.I prefer Athlon 64 series of processor.(i want normal stuff but not latest-so i didn't go for dual core x2)

I'll get one of the following boards

Asus k8v-mx (socket 754) price Rs 2000 (indian currency)
supports sdram-ddr

Asus m2npv-vm (socket am2) price Rs 4000 (indian currency)
supports sdram-ddr2

But i need following information regarding it

*will Asus k8v-mx (socket 754) support ddr2 and ddr be forward compatible with ddr2(i mean when i wish i can change ddr to ddr 2 in the same board in future if ddr2 become the trend)(also i'd heard, that this board supports ddr2 too)

*can amd 3500(about 2.2 ghz) will go for next 5 years(i mean will it age out soon or not)(i'm working on a p3 1.0 ghz which is good now so i don't need latest trend speed but it shoud not age out-i.e. situations may not come where i need to throw it)

Summary is that can i still go with k8v-mx (socket 754)+Athlon 64 3500 combination to continue for atleast 5 years hence.

No, only the AM2 socket/CPUs can use DDR2

939 was a bargain, but you may have missed that.
