Default AMD over Intel... Hmmm.

hey if you had a choice of a mobo/cpu combo of AMD duron 1.8 GHz for $100 or a mobo/cpu combo with celeron D 2.93 GHz for $120 which would you choose ( note: this is purely about dependability, not speed)

I'd go with the Duron, but it's really opinion more than anything. Quality isn't really an issue when it comes to dependability with processors... I guess I change my mind. Whichever has the better motherboard.

I think they are equally as good and/or as bad as the other, go with whatever has a better board.

Celeron D. 2.93GHz, 256K cache 533Mz fsb, pc2700 DDR standard.

Duron. 1.8GHz 64K cache, 266MHz fsb, pc2100 DDR standard.

I'd go with the Celeron.

EDIT: The Celeron also runs cooler than the Duron and has a much better stock hs/f. The CPU itself is also a lot more durable.
