| Am3/am2+ I just want to confirm, do AM3 processors work in AM2+ slots? And if so, do all AM2+ motherboards support AM3 processors or does the motherboard need to specifically state it supports AM3?
Specifically, I'm thinking of recommending this processor https://secure.scan.co.uk/aspnet/Sho...ductId=1002257
and this motherboard, or probably a similar ATX version https://secure.scan.co.uk/aspnet/Sho...ductId=1001097
Any thoughts? Is that a good processor for £100? |

| Re: Am3/am2+ Links are broken for me.
It all comes down to the manufacturer and their support. A general rule of thumb to follow though, is all 790GX boards and higher will support AM3. Some 780Gs will support them, sometimes with a BIOS flash.
My favorite combo, personally, is the x3 720 BE with the TA790GX 128M. That's what I'm running right now, and it's a match made in heaven.

| Re: Am3/am2+ Sorry, this is the correct motherboard link: Asus M4A78-EM, AMD 780G, SAM2/AM2+, PCI-E 2.0 x16, DDR2 1066, SATA 3Gb/s, SATA RAID, uATX, VGA, HDMI - Scan.co.uk
The processor is the X3 720 as you mentioned
Will look into your recommended motherboard. |

| Re: Am3/am2+ It looks quite good, but crossfire is unneeded really as she has a GTS250. Still, good-quality board with some good features, may go for it |
