I need to know what kind of machine I can build for gaming with a budget with $500 dollars. I will be only shopping from newegg. - Winston

To be more specific looking for a good processor and videocard and about 1gig of ram and a decent hard drive need a real good advice on a mobo and a cheap reliable supply and a durable case.

How about a case? Conserving money, if you're going to need a case, those free PSU's usually last awhile (and are often cheaper then the cases that do not come with one, hah).

I'd change it up a bit from b1gapl's setup if you want to save and (possibly) get better performance -

Go for 1GB ram for a budget gaming rig. The X1900Pro is a good card and can be found fairly cheaply. Aside from that, probably an X2 3600+ would be the way to go.

the 3600+ would OC to 4200+ speeds pretty easily on stock cooling anyway, they are cool chips. on a budget build you need to save as much as possible, heh.
