Good points there man.

Blackhawk, what kind of budget are you working with?

What I see is that he is spending $70 on an outdated socket 478 mobo. He could get a socket 939 board for the same price.

Well if he shops around, he'll find one for 35-40 bucks.

I think he should spend a little more money now on a system that will last a couple years longer, rather than getting a system that is already very outdated.

if its so outdated, how can it run BF2? but to run it well, you want better, i agree that you should get AMD, possible Socket 754

well as long as he sticks to the budget, he may as well buy the most powerful computer possible and if you say the AMD system would be the same price for more performance then that would be the most obvious choice, they would both play bf2 but on the other hand the AMD 754 has a longer upgrade path.

s939 is easily possible on that budget. although you would probably have to go a little on the cheap side for the motherboard.

Hmm...All it has to do is run bf2. But if you can find a socket 939 mobo for the same price, or maybe a little bit more, that either a) ships to canada or b) is in canada. Then I'll take a gander at that .

edit: How about this mobo?

And then, lemme look up an AMD cpu.

cpu: http://www.canadacomputers.com/index...86&cid=CPU.611

That costs... $56 more. Any suggestions now?
