I am prolly the one who told u to run hijackthis. I am not an expert on it however microbell is. PM him.

I just noticed you have norton and AVG that will prolly slow it down alot, get ride of norton. AVG uses less resources.

There will come a day, such a day when all will be told more than they wish to know, what one hears may explain the past, it may explain the future, but it has never made a difference either way and it will change nothing. Some day.... But that is not this day, and I don't know when, I just don't know.

Yes, but it slows down your computer lots when you have 2 AV's and they usally have conflicts with Each other.

yea, running more than one antivirus program will really slow it down,

hmmm... go to start > run > then type msconfig, and go to the startup tab at the far right, (those are all the processes started with windows...) I'm not sure what needs to be kept, but for the most part, uncheck the things you don't use or that you can start manualy, and like I said, I'm not sure whats necessary but I'm sure if you ask someone on tech forums will say weather it's needed or not

Its easier to google anything that you dont know of.

but anything in the column you don't need at all. Windows will start if all are disabled.

BUt usally there are some thing you want left on.

Hi and Welcome to tech forums

You have a worm and a bad IP hijacker running. The other two 017 entrys are IP's from BTnet out of the UK...so if thats your service provider...they are legit.

Before attacking an adware/spyware problem with hijackthis make sure you have already run the following tools. Download and update the databases on each program before running.
Also make sure you are using the the latest version (1.99.1) of HijackThis and it's installed in it's own folder on the root drive. (C:\HJT)

Please go to at least two of these sites and run an online Virus Scan.
Be sure to have the AutoFix box(s) checked.

http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
http://www3.ca.com/virusinfo/virusscan.aspx
http://www.pandasoftware.com/actives..._principal.htm
http://www.bitdefender.com/scan/license.php
http://us.mcafee.com/root/mfs/default.asp
http://security.symantec.com/sscv6/d...d=ie&venid=sym
http://www3.ca.com/virusinfo/virusscan.aspx

Go to My Computer->Tools->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that Show hidden files and folders is enabled. Also make sure that the System Files and Folders are showing/visible.
Please make sure system restore is enabled by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn OFF System Restore and make sure it’s NOT checked. We want system restore ON and monitoring your current hard drive. Once your clean we will turn this off and then back on to remove the infection from the restore folder and create a clean restore point.

Download and install Cleanup but DO NOT run it yet!

*WARNING* Cleanup deletes EVERYTHING out of temp/temporary folders and does not make backups. If you have a 64 bit Operating System do NOT run Cleanup and let me know as we will use another utility

Reboot into Safe Mode (hit F8 key until menu shows up). Make sure to close any open browsers. Go into HijackThis->Config->Misc. Tools->Open process manager. Select the following and click Kill process for each one IF they are still listed (they shouldn't be but make sure)

C:\WINDOWS\System32\msmsgss.exe

Check and fix the following in HijackThis if they still exist (make sure you do not miss an entry)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [msmsgr] msmsgss.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [msmsgr] msmsgss.exe
O9 - Extra button: Related - {c95fe080-8f5d-11d2-a20b-00aa003c157a} - C:\WINDOWS\web\related.htm
O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Show &Related Links - {c95fe080-8f5d-11d2-a20b-00aa003c157a} - C:\WINDOWS\web\related.htm
O16 - DPF: {56336BCB-3D8A-11D6-A00B-0050DA18DE71} (RdxIE Class) - http://software-dl.real.com/2368434...ip/RdxIE601.cab
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{079136BE-AF68-4027-B2FD-600F44E6DBD3}: NameServer = 192.168.2.1

C:\WINDOWS\System32\msmsgss.exe <--delete that file

Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu). Set the program up as follows:
*Click "Options..."
*Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp!"
*Put a check next to the following:
  • Empty Recycle Bins
  • Delete Cookies
  • Delete Prefetch files
[X]Scan local drives for temporary files (Please uncheck this option)
  • Cleanup! All Users
Click OK
Press the CleanUp! button to start the program. Reboot/logoff when prompted.

Once back to normal mode.....

Please run an online scan at http://www.pandasoftware.com/actives..._principal.htm
Once it has finished save the activescan log. Then post that log in your next post along with a new hijackthis log.

Those processes are related to Symantec/Norton which is known to be a resource hog on most systems. It's common they will always have a high CPU useage.
