| My computer is running ridiculously slow and keeps loading pop-ups from at least six different sites that I've never seen before. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. | Ultra Techie | Hi there! It looks like you have Weatherbug installed on your PC. Weatherbug is adware so I suggest you remove it. Go to Start then open the control panel. Click Add/Remove Programs and Select "WeatherBug" and remove it. *You will need to be able to view hidden folders to do this* - To do this on the main bar click 'tools' and then 'folder options' and then the 'view' tab. Click the circle 'View hidden files and folders' 1. Open "MY COMPUTER" icon on your desktop. 2. Double-click the C drive. 3. Double-click on Document and Settings 4. Double-click the folder that has your name next to it (or the name of whomever the machine is registered to) 5. Double-click the Application Data folder to open it and delete the folder entitled WeatherBug. 7. Restart your computer and the uninstall is complete. Finally, there is an extra icon in the Internet Explorer bar that is left even after uninstalling Weatherbug, to remove this extra content button, use HijackThis and remove the following line O9 - Extra button: WeatherBug - {AF6CABAB-61F9-4f12-A198-B7D41EF1CB52} - C:\Program Files\AWS\WeatherBug\Weather.exe (file missing) (HKCU) If you are looking for an alternative to weatherbug that does not display ads and is free, you might want to try WeatherPulse. An excellent weather monitoring tool that sits on your desktop like Weatherbug. You can download Weatherpulse by visiting their website here : http://tropicdesigns.net/weatherpulse.php Run HijackThis again and fix the following entries : O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {014DA6C9-189F-421a-88CD-07CFE51CFF10} - (no file) O15 - Trusted Zone: *.elitemediagroup.net Reboot and post a new HijackThis log.

| Ultra Techie | Glad to see the popups have gone. Is your PC back to usual speed and not running slow? I recommend that you get rid of IE 7 because it's still a beta I believe and IE is not best known for its security ![]() Two alternatives would be Opera and Firefox. A program that can help optimise your system is CCleaner. It can be downloaded here : http://www.ccleaner.com/. Be sure you know what it is cleaning before cleaning.

| I just ran CCleaner for the first time and it definitely cleared out some of the junk for me. I actually don't use IE7, so I haven't got the slightest idea as to why it's even on here. I'm a Firefox user through and through. WeatherPulse is working out nicely for me too. Thanks for that tip. I appreciate all the help you've given me. |
