Mobile Operating System

Hi

I m in my final year of my degree in computing .... and for my final year project i have submitted the title "Mobile Operating System" .... in which i have propsed to develop an Operating System for a Mobile phone ...... now the problem is i have never worked on any such thing before and i was thinking where to start from ..... what language do i need to learn and what things i need to know in order to accomplish my task

Please if any 1 can help me out ere i 'd be greatful

I'm sure some of the more expensive mobile phones already have operating systems. Possibley Windows CE or some variant of linux maybe? Anyways what I'm trying to say is you are trying to do something that's already been done.
