Microsoft Bluetooth problem.

I recently purchased Microsoft's bluetooth keyboard and mouse and have incurred some problems. First of all in case you guys dont already know, the bluetooth transceiver connects via USB. I have found that if a wired keyboard is not plugged in at start up my operatiing system will not start up. At the window, on start up, where the computer is detecting my drives, it will not go any further displaying a message "No keyboard detected". Right now at this point I have my old keyboard plugged in but using the bluetooth setup. Does anybody know a way around this or have come across the same situation.
