| Re: iPhone 3G vs. iPhone 3G S Don't I know it. Until recently, I worked for AT&T as well. Our location didn't have iPhones. Do the math on how annoyed I was on a daily basis.

| Re: iPhone 3G vs. iPhone 3G S I was working for an Authorized Retailer actually, hence no iPhone. Ugh. Nor did we have proper access to do certain things, so we lost a few customers that way.

| Re: iPhone 3G vs. iPhone 3G S 1st gen was the only iPhone with cell triangulation. 3G has true GPS. From what I've read it's just new features built into the app and not necessarily any changes to the hardware (plus the compass, which I'm not sure if it's actually a hardware feature) . A lot of the "features" they are selling in the 3G-S are actually new features of the 3.0 firmware and will be available to 3G owners anyway. The biggest exclusive benefits will be the newer, faster processor and camera improvements.

| Re: iPhone 3G vs. iPhone 3G S Actually, the first 3G iPhones that came out didn't have any GPS capabilities. The later models had some form of GPS, but still relied heavily on triangulation more than anything. It was a big firmware issue that they are fixing in the 3G S, and now they have teamed up with Tom Tom to make the GPS actually work.

| Re: iPhone 3G vs. iPhone 3G S mmm...not sure about that. I got my iPhone right when they came out and it has full GPS capabilities. There's no "turn-by-turn" function, which is what they are working with Tom Tom and TeleNav on, but it is true GPS. Again, the limitations have been on the software end, not the hardware end, and most of those issues will be resolved with 3.0. It does have wi-fi and/or cell triangulation as a secondary backup, but the main functionality is in the GPS itself.

| Re: iPhone 3G vs. iPhone 3G S On the 1st G iphone the limmited GPS functionality was triangulation based and if i am correct it was only offerd on some iphones that had a slightly differnt hardware from the mainstream even then it was spotty.

| Re: iPhone 3G vs. iPhone 3G S After about 4 hours of bickering with telstra last night, I sort of managed to get out of my current contract provided that i sign up for a new one. Currently considering the iPhone. I would like to have a look and touchy feel of one before going ahead as i don't want to purchase another lemon.
[EDIT]One of my clients came in with one and I figured "Yes, I am getting one"[/EDIT]
I am getting the 16Gb one. i figured I could do with a larger sized harddrive.
